Acacia Ridge Interstate Rail Works
Joint Venture: JF Hull Holdings, Bielby Holdings and Aurecon
Contract Value: $114M
An alliance consisting of JF Hull, Bielby Holdings, and QLD Rail with designers Aurecon to design and construct the grade separation of the open level rail crossing on Beaudesert Road at Acacia Ridge as well as the southern extension of the goods yard. The major features of the project included a five-span 145m overpass bridge, 500,000m3 of fill moved off site to lower the rail line, major service relocations, intersection upgrade and rail switches.
The project required top down construction as well as multiple construction stages. This construction approach enabled four lanes of traffic remaining open to traffic at all times and minimised the overall impact and inconvenience to the travelling public.
The project team were able to eliminate $20M in major services works from the original design, not only presenting significant cost savings but reducing impacts to traffic flows and the local community throughout construction.
