Fisherman Island – Wharf 8

The project consisted of the construction of a new continuous wharf, approximately 210m long and 29m wide, a relieving slab of the same length x 6.37m wide supported on an abutment constructed on top of an existing rock wall.
The new wharf is a cast insitu reinforced concrete decking, supported by tubular steel piles protected by a cathodic protection system. Fabrication and driving of piles (900mm, 1050mm and 1200mm diameter) to required penetrations including the removal and replacement of existing rockwall armour rock.
Initial works also involved the demolition of the existing Sir Thomas Hiley Wharf and Pumpout facility, as well as two existing berthing dolphins and mooring dolphins.
